At some point in life, everyone has dreamed of being a hero. Whether that meant soaring through the air, arms stretched out in front of you and cape flapping in the wind, or saving someone from a burning building, many of us have imagined saving the day. Most of us want to help others in some way. At Healthworks Ergonomics, we are driven by a desire to help people be safer and more comfortable at work, and we want to help you be the hero who helps your team feel better at work every day!

What Is Ergonomics Training?

You may be wondering, “What is it about ergonomics training that’s so heroic?” Ergonomics training empowers you and your team members to be healthy, happy, and productive. When you are ergonomically aware, it means you’re taking care of your company’s most important assets, your people. This training will show your team how to take control of their comfort and safety at the workplace.

What’s the Purpose?

Our Lunch and Learn Group Training Programs are built to educate employees on the ways they can make adjustments to their furniture and equipment. It also trains them on what they should be practicing to stay healthy at work.

Your team is trained to understand and look for poor ergonomic practices. For example, poor posture, contact stress, and prolonged positioning are all bad ergonomic practices. Then proper ergonomic practices are broken down and explained.

  • How to adjust the chair, desk and position keyboard, mouse and monitor
  • Adding movement into the day: the things they need to remember to do, the behavioral responsibilities the employees have.
  • When to get help: teach employees when to ask for more help – what to watch out for and how to ask. For example, if you have discomfort, swelling, weakness or tingling, ask for help by letting your manager know.

How and When Is Training Done?

Ideally, group training is hands-on and it is specifically designed for your team. The training can be broad, but its best if we are able to reference and demonstrate the furniture your team uses daily.  For example, have your team bring their chairs to the training so they can make adjustments right then and there.

Training usually lasts an hour. Our instructor will set-up a short presentation at your location of choice, run through basics about ergonomics, bust myths about ergonomics, and then have the team apply the material to their own chairs and/or work spaces.

When Do I Need This Training?

When you get new employees, you should make sure they’re briefed on proper ergonomics. Training new employees gets them off on the right foot and sends a message that comfort and safety are a priority. You also want to re-train your staff periodically. People need reminders from time to time. It keeps how to implement good ergonomic practices top-of-mind, so they continue to feel better at work in the long-term rather than just for the short-term.

Whenever there’s a change in furniture or equipment, you should consider training as well. Any time the employee is going to get new furniture or equipment, make sure they are trained to properly use it. This goes for a new chair or sit-stand station, as well as larger monitors or different keyboards.

Any time someone is asking for help, letting you know they have discomfort or returning to work after an injury, training can help them get back on track. This is a good rule of thumb for any company. It keeps all your employees at their healthiest and happiest, and allows them to continue being productive.

So, are your ready to accept your destiny and come to the rescue for your company? Start by filling out this form. A member of our team will reach out to you to discuss your specific needs and arrange a time for the training. Let Healthworks Ergonomics equip you with the superpowers you need to be the hero of your office!
